Ellen Hansen Corby was born on Jue 3, 1911, in Racine. An interest in theatre from her childhood led her to Atlantic City in 1932, where she entered Hollywood as a script girl.

She was married to cinematographer Francis Corby. The marriage lasted only till 1944, the couple divorced with no children.

After that, Corby and Stella started living together.

Ellen Corby was established as an American actress and scriptwriter.

Ellen’s most famous role was Grandma Esther Walton in the television drama series “The Waltons.” Ellen played that role from 1972 to 1980. She had received 3 Emmy Awards for it.

I Remember Mama, The Homecoming, A Walton Easter, Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Triggers in Leash, Vertigo, etc., are her movies and television series.

And the best-loved actress rested in peace in 1999 in Los Angeles, California, United States. Her memorial site is made in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California.

Though Ellen is no more with us, she is being remembered on her birth anniversary and known for the role of Grandma Esther Walton by many people all over the world.
